If I were a Book Cover . . .

This is a submission for the lovely people at Uppercase magazine.
Their latest topic is "If you were a Book Cover, what would you be...."
What a great topic!!

I chose a vintage romance novel, with my title being "Waiting for Perfection", i think that says it all!!
Like most ladies, im waiting for my knight in shining armour to whisk me off my feet and live happily ever after (sick!) . . . . hence the cover design.

I think i better stick to illustrating!

Children's Book Pitch

I was lucky enough to be asked to pitch for a childrens story being put into production at the moment, and although I was pipped to it by another illustrator (which is a shame as its a lovely story i would have loved to work on!), i thought i would share with you some of the work i produced for it.

The basic idea of the story was about an elephant living in the jungle, so first up i created a little elephant character:

Once i had my main character sorted, i had to come up with some full page spread ideas for some of the text given to me:

I also had to produce a colour spread, and chose this spread to re-produce:

It was a great little story to work on and such a shame i didnt get it, as childrens illustration is something i would love to be able to work on. After working on this story, hopefully a few more may be thrown my way!

SketchBook Wrap Party

Last nights SketchBook party was a raving success, with the place packed within the first hour! We also had channel 5 filming! Amazing! Oh and someone bid on my work wooo!

 My work on show.

Some images of the work on display:

We had a live band (though i didnt quite catch their name, however they were pretty good!) and you can see the camera man filming away:

Some shots of people enjoying the night:

We also had yummy cupcakes and cookies from Ben's Cookies:

And my lovely editor Wafa:

It was a great night and such an amazing end to the Kingly Court studio experience! Cant wait for the next project!
