The Makings of a Book Cover

video

While researching for some new projects, I came across this video I thought I would share. It shows (rather quickly!) the production design of a book cover for a book called 'Blameless' by Gail Carriger. The cover is by Lauren Panepinto, who has some nice cover designs under her belt. She makes it look easy!

Dont Panic Poster Entry

My entry for the latest Dont Panic poster competition, theme being 'TV'.
Please vote for my entry over HERE.
Thank you!

A quick post to let you know about an amazing new venture that is the 'Working Class Awards'. Created by Monsieur Cabinet and Tigz Rice, it aims to giving people (like me!) the chance to be able to enter an awards as they wouldnt usually due to high fees and such. Its free to enter, and a range of work can be submitted, with as many entries as you like. They also have some amazing judges, such as Tom Gauld!
I think its an amazing idea, and glad someone has managed to create such an exciting venture.
I sent off my entries this morning, sending 6 pieces of work, ranging from some of my new exhibition stuff to a few of my magazine submissions. Fingers crossed! Cant wait to see the winners!

PS: If you want to enter some work, you better be quick as deadline is Wednesday 31st March.

Kntting Galore

Well, my 2 weeks off is officially over, i must say i do feel very rested and ready to get back to work! So as i go through my inbox and make new work plans, i thought i would share some of my 'crafty' news from the past week.

First up, im delighted to annonce im now the proud owner of a beautful Cath Kidston knitting bag!
My mother noted my pleas on my wish list and decided it made a wonderful easter pressie (dont we just love mums!). I must say its better than i thought, its very spacious:
As you can see, i have several balls of wool, a few pattern sheets and my current knitting project and there is still quite some space! The inside pockets are also holding a few goodies although you cant quite see them in this pic.

I also have a front pocket, which im using to hold my knitting equipment such as spare needles, markers, tape measure etc.
Im in love right now!

So having some time off, ive made a great start on my first baby jumper pattern and quite pleased at how its turning out.
Its been a learner thats for sure!

But it looks ok! And after seeing this pic the future mummy agrees it looks cute! All i need now is some sleeves.....

Ive already got my next pattern in mind, a hooded jumper this time.

Ive also been crafty enough to make my own little pin cushion, say hello to this cute little fella

Im also excited as this week sees the Stitch and Craft Show at Kensingston Olympia on thurs-sun.
Ive just seen the floor plan and they have packed 3 floors of knitting, stitching, crafting and all sorts, so i cant wait to head down there (sad i know!).

So back to work i go .....

Beautiful Malaga

I thought i would share with you some of the pics i took while visiting Malaga! It was an amazing holiday, truely relaxing and the weather was very good to us, staying around 20c dispite cloudy moments!

We stayed in the most beautiful hotel, traditional old building on the outside but modern inside, situated right next to the main cathedral.

And of course a visit to the catherdral was a must.

Of course a visit to the beach is always relaxing.

We also visited the Picasso Museum, as being his birthplace it is a must. However they take your bags on entry so no pics inside!

A brilliant holiday in all, full of good food, good culture and good company!

Award!!

A quick post today to express my joy at recieving my first blog award!
I received The Circle of Friends Award from the lovely Annie over at BIRDCAGES AND BUTTERFLIES.

I'm so chuffed!

The conditions of accepting this award is that you pass it on to 5 people, and list 5 things i like doing, so here goes:

1. CRAFTING
Being an illustrator, this is an obvious one, but hey i love to create! Wether its images, jewelry, sewing, or expermenting with whatever (my next one is marbling- do you remember doing that at primary school?? I loved it and was fascinated with it, and have just seen a kit in paperchase which is next on my wish list!!).

2. KNITTING
I could have listed this under crafting, but i love doing it so much now that i think it deserves its own spot! My baby knitting is loved by those who have received it, so much so that i now have more orders in! I find it so therapeutic after a long day at my part time job, and love finishing a creation and seeing cute little babies in my cute little clothes! Also i still have that Cath Kidston Knitting Bag on my wish list.....

3. BEING WITH MY FRIENDS
I must say im very lucky to have some great friends. Whenever there is a dull or sad moment, all it needs is a call or text and one (or many!) will be there. I can honestly say there is never a dull moment with any of them, and am thankful everyday for getting the best ones.

4. TRAVELLING
I love going to different places (as i write this im also packing for a trip to Malaga wooo!). It doesn't have to be abroad, i love finding new shops, places to eat (im still obsessed with this one place in Kilburn called The Little Bay which is amazing!) and excitment in the weirdest of places (im still in shock at the fun i had with my girls at a CenterParcs resort - who would have thought!)
But abroad is brilliant too, i cant wait to travel to some of the places i have lined up (Egept and Jamaica again to name a few....).

5. COLLECTING
I a hoader. I admit it. I will keep the silliest of things, be it materials to use in my work, the card from a restrant that i loved, a lollipop from a memeroable sea trip arcade adventure, or a poloroid snap (and it has to be a special snap to warrant the poloroid, as im on my last film and its factory is no more sob!). It drives my mum mad but i love seeing all these things on my wall, to me they are happy memories and what is a life without those?

So im going to pass on this award to 5 who i love hearing from and love to know more about!

They are a varity of blogs, each one contribruitng something different to my inspiration. Check them out!
And a big thank you again to Annie!
